Goldcrest

A lively and difficult bird to photograph as it often keeps to shady areas. This image has been lifted out of the shadows.

    • Thank you. Yes, they are very difficult to photograph. This was my first attempt but now I know where they congregate I will be back to try and capture them again in better light.

    • There were quite a few in the area as well as chiffchaff and possibly a resident blackcap (I can’t decide from the image), but I went back a couple of days later and only saw a brief glimpse of two. Some of their habitat had been chopped down so I think they had moved on.

      • Had a Blackcap in the garden a week before Christmas and have had one/two visit feed in 3 years out of 5. Only ever seen Goldcrest a couple of times in the garden when the weather is really bad.
